Event Details

Peace activist Allie Perry and journalist Melinda Tuhus visited the occupied West Bank in 2008 and again in 2011, and they will offer their observations about the situation in that region.

Arriving just after the recent release of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit in a prisoner swap, they observed first-hand a “pricetag” action of Israeli settlers against Palestinians in retribution for Israeli army efforts to curtail settlers’ illegal activities.  The two Americans also visited the site of a longtime ongoing protest against the Israeli      separation barrier. In their quest to better understand the continued Israeli occupation of Palestinian territory, they met with individuals who hold a variety of points of view, and learned about the peace-making work of  Israeli and Palestinian nonviolent activists.  (map from Wikipedia)
